Shammie Abagnale

Shammie Abagnale is the Manager of IT at Vela Wood, where she leads the firm’s technology function and its IT team across the Dallas and Austin offices. She owns the firm’s technology end-to-end, infrastructure, systems, and the day-to-day tools the firm depends on, and sets the direction for technology strategy, planning, and budgeting. Shammie directs the firm’s security operations, including firm-wide security policies, incident response planning, and ongoing security awareness training.
Shammie is also the Dallas Coordinator for VW FWD, the firm’s social change initiative. She graduated cum laude from United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya, and completed the University of Texas at Dallas Cybersecurity Bootcamp in 2026. Before moving to the U.S., she worked in China as an Office Coordinator at a travel agency and as a part-time teacher. When she is not spending time with her family, she enjoys binge-reading any book she can get her hands on.
