SAFE Alliance Collaboration

VW has signed the SAFE Pledge – which provides a roadmap for organizations to recognize the signs of abuse and domestic violence, and to provide support and intervention.

At Vela Wood, we believe that we can be an active part of ending family violence and supporting those affected by it. To do that, we pledge to:

  • Provide resources within our workplace and our community that will raise awareness about family violence, help people recognize potentially abusive or violent situations, and offer support safely.
  • Identify two representatives to receive SAFE Pledge Training from SAFE, so that they can effectively develop, review, and implement policies that support employees who may be affected by family violence.
  • Create and publish comprehensive company policies that support employees who may be affected by family violence.
  • Work in partnership with SAFE to support their mission to stop abuse for everyone.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Run personal errands for firm employees that are within a 5-mile radius of the office
  • Handle any firm-related errands such as Certified Mailing, Courier service, package mailing, to include delivery and transporting legal documents, etc
  • Perform occasional store runs to purchase office snacks, beverages, or supplies as needed
  • Picking up and setting up lunch daily
  • Typical office clerk tasks, such as making copies, organizing files, and organizing and distributing mail in the office
  • Assist with office setup or changes, including furniture arrangement
  • Perform ad-hoc personal errands for attorneys and management
  • Cover front desk and phones as needed
  • Assist with set up and break down of events at the office, that the firm sponsors, or donates to in the Dallas area
  • Maintain detailed logs of deliveries and pickups as required
