Kaitlyn Fletcher Ward graduated with honors from the University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas. While in law school, Kaitlyn was a member of the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal. Prior to law school, Kaitlyn graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in Energy Commerce. During law school, Kaitlyn was involved in the University of Houston Law Center’s Juvenile & Capital Advocacy Project. She served as a guardian ad litem for children in the foster care system. After law school, Kaitlyn continued her work and volunteered as a Dallas CASA advocate, helping advocate for the best interests of children in the foster care system.
Prior to joining Vela Wood, Kaitlyn worked as an associate at Stutzman, Bromberg, Esserman & Plifka, P.C. in the bankruptcy practice group. During her time at SBEP, she assisted on a wide range of bankruptcy related matters, including mass tort bankruptcy cases and the representation of Section 524(g) Asbestos Trusts. Kaitlyn is admitted to practice in all federal districts and bankruptcy courts in Texas.
Kaitlyn grew up in Dallas, Texas. She recently moved to Austin, Texas, with her husband, two toddler boys, and two (very hyper) goldendoodles. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, reading, and seeing live music any chance she can get.
Fun Facts:
- Grew up in a musical family and began playing the flute when she was three years old.
- Has seen every episode of Criminal Minds.
- Once sat at the chef’s table at the highly renowned restaurant Gaggan, in Bangkok, Thailand. It was by far the best dining experience she has ever had.
- Studied abroad in Rome, Italy (undergrad) and Aberdeen, Scotland (law school).
