Tyler Beas graduated from The University of Chicago Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where he was a Bernard Heerey Summer Fellow. While in law school, Tyler was a member of the Chicago Institute for Justice Clinic on Entrepreneurship, the Latino/a Law Students Association, the Texas Law Society, and Wine Mess. Prior to law school, Tyler graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A., and was a College Scholar.

Prior to joining Vela Wood, Tyler worked in Dallas as a Senior Associate at Baker Botts L.L.P. in the Branding, Advertising, and Copyright practice group and as an Associate at Haynes Boone LLP. While at Baker Botts, Tyler chaired the Dallas office’s Associates’ Committee and served as an Associate Liaison to the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Tyler was also a member of the Attorney Diversity Committee while at Haynes Boone.

At Vela Wood, Tyler’s practice focuses on intellectual property client counseling and litigation in connection with trademark and copyright law (including DMCA take-downs), trade dress, domain name disputes, social media, advertising practices, and NIL matters. Tyler’s practice also comprises trademark and copyright clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and licensing.

Tyler grew up “out in the West Texas town of El Paso,” and after spending three years out of state for law school, he decided nobody else had decent Mexican food, and Texas was where he wanted to be. He currently resides in East Dallas with his wife, two kids, two dogs, and a revolving door of rescued and rehabbed animals. Tyler is actively involved in both of his children’s schools, and when he’s not chasing them around, he enjoys listening to music, attending concerts (or, these days, turning his living room into a concert venue for YouTube videos), watching and playing sports, and taking walks with his dogs.
