Sherwin Faridifar Senior Attorney

Prior to joining Vela Wood, Sherwin practiced at Baker Botts L.L.P. for more than a decade.

Sherwin graduated with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. While in law school, Sherwin was an Associate Editor on the Texas Law Review. Prior to law school, Sherwin graduated with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley, with a degree in business administration.

• Represented an SEC receiver in numerous litigation matters arising out of a multi-billion-dollar international Ponzi scheme, including matters in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas and the Southern District of Florida*
• Represented a financial services firm in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in a lawsuit involving allegations of trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference, unfair competition, and conversion*
• Represented a leading multinational energy company in a TCEQ lawsuit involving alleged violations of the Texas Clean Air Act*
• Represented an international chemical company in a discovery dispute related to a chemical plant explosion*

• Represented an indoor skydiving company in an international contract dispute involving arbitration and multiple lawsuits arising out of a series of licensing agreements*
• Represented a semiconductor research consortium in a lawsuit alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference with prospective business relations, breach of contract, and business disparagement*
• Represented a business-services company in a lawsuit involving allegations of breach of contract, tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, unjust enrichment, and misappropriation of trades secrets, as well as the scope and applicability of the Texas Citizens Participation Act*
